Podcasts, templates to fill in, and updates that bring the new parts
A podcast is now one more folder in your blog. folderblog 0.2.6 and 0.2.7 also add a folder of templates to every blog, and make updates bring new things to the blogs you already have.
A podcast is a folder
podcast on adds a podcast/ folder and the show and episode pages to your theme. Each episode is a folder with its show notes in index.md and its recording beside them: an MP3, or an MP4 for a video podcast. A transcript and chapters are optional. folderblog works out each episode’s length and size by itself, and makes the show page, the episode pages with a player, and a feed at /podcast/feed.xml. The feed is ready for Apple Podcasts, Spotify and the Podcasting 2.0 apps, with transcripts, chapters, the people on each episode, and optional Lightning tips.
The audio doesn’t go into your site or into git. folderblog podcast setup connects Cloudflare R2 step by step, even if you’ve never used Cloudflare. It recommends your own domain for the audio, and r2.dev is fine to start with. When you publish, folderblog uploads the episode, checks it’s really online, and only then publishes the site. If the upload fails, nothing goes out and it tries again, so the feed never points at a missing file.
Or let an agent put it up
folderblog mcp is an MCP server for Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop and other agents. Hand an agent a recording and say “put this up”. It makes a draft episode, writes the show notes and chapters, and checks everything. It publishes only after you say yes. Your Cloudflare key stays on your computer and never reaches the agent.
Templates to fill in
Every blog now has a templates/ folder with a sample post and a sample episode. Each lists every detail folderblog knows about, with a short note on what it does. Copy one, fill it in, and delete the lines you don’t need. Both start as drafts, so nothing goes online half-written. The folder itself is never published.
Updates bring the new parts
Until now, an update changed folderblog but not the blogs you’d already made. From 0.2.7, install the new version and restart the service:
The first time it starts on a new version, each blog gets what that version adds, like the templates/ folder, and its AGENTS.md is brought up to date. It never turns a feature on, and it never changes your theme, your settings or your posts. If you delete a sample file, it stays deleted.
